What are common names for pets in countries other than the US?

And if they are also words in another language, (like "Spot," "Ranger," "Fluffy," "Socks,"or "Major") what do they mean?

What are common names for pets in countries other than the US?
In Russia typical dog names are "Sharik" (ball or balloon), "Druzhok" (friend), "Palkan" (short for colonel, usually used for large dogs)
Reply:A couple of my friends have a (tom) cat called "Rizhko" - it comes from "Rizh", which is red-head, but it's a familiar form, used for someone / something smaller.
Reply:i don't know maybe names kinda like ours but in their language
Reply:chanti bujji dolly so on.
Reply:major, is a military rank lot of people use it on their pets
Reply:"Food", "appetizer", etc. - a tasteless comment, no pun intended, but true.
Reply:In Romania we name dogs "Grivei", "Labus" (diminutive for paw), "Rex" (that's universal i think), "Laica" (borrowed from our russian neighbours), "Azorel" . Cats are named "Miti", "Misu", "Smotocel"
