Do cyanobacteria species have common names?

I know some scientific names of cyanobactera...like anabaena spherica and nostoc......but do they have common names like other organisms???for example, the scientific name of the king crab is Pseudocarcinus gigas.....PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Do cyanobacteria species have common names?
Unfortunately, they don't . Or if they "do" it's the same as the scientific name (Nostoc, Spirulina, Oscillatoria).

As close as you get to a common name is the misnomer "blue-green algae" for the group.
Reply:My colleague who works on various kinds of non-marine "algae" tells me that the common name for Nostoc commune is "snot". This is not to be confused with Didymo or "rock snot" which is apparently a diatom.
