i know someone named cesar, he's hispanic.. so it's pronounced differently than caesar.
and i know a girl who is about 12 or 14 named juliet...
and there is a children's book called "julius, baby of the world" or something like that...
so some of those names are still around.. just not too common :)
Shakespeare,Julius,Juliet,Caes鈥?or Julita are the common Names still or they are the forgotten names?
Juliet is okay, but please don't name a kid any of those other names.
Reply:In the jungles of Africa these names have probably never been known. In lots of other languages they are likely to be unpronounceable.
At Oxford Uni they could possibly give an opinion, if they could be bothered. But I wonder about all the other the non-english speakers there.
From these examples you can see that these names would have been only popular in a very small sample of people who were aware of what other new mothers were calling their children. They probably would have had to read the same socialite pages announcing the names chosen for newly arrived babies. They dissapear in proportion to the number of parents who decide to be creative about their child's name.
