Reply:My daughter has an uncommon name - "Siobhan". It's pronounced "shavonne". It's Irish (Gaelic). I found out it was the 1,019th most popular name in the U.S. It's much more common in Ireland and Britain - and everyone there knows how to pronounce it!
But everywhere I go, whenever I tell people my daughter's name, they always say that it's so pretty!
Occasionally, people mispronounce it "shabon" or "chiffon", but no biggie.
My 5-1/2 YO daughter is really good about telling people how to spell her name.
She doesn't really have a nickname, but sometimes just for fun I call her "shavonny-bonny".
