What about Dutch last name " ROMIJN "?
What are the most common and popular last names in HOLLAND?
Well Romijn doesn't mean anything in Dutch, Most names are Van something in Dutch. Or some ther Dutch words mixed together like Geldof (Bob)
Get a hold of a Dutch phone book
Reply:Some REALLY common Dutch names are
Dijkstra (Dykstra)
van Dijk (Van Dyke)
Jansen or Jans (sometimes Americanized to Johnson)
Kok (Cook)
I have some Romine's in my family tree... I suspect that family has some Dutch roots.
Reply:i knew a bloke from holland called Windy Miller,,,, honest
Reply:Jansen/Janssen is stereotypically the most common name around here (the Netherlands) but there are many names that are seen alot. For example:
van Dijk (lit of the Dyke)
de Jong(e) (the young (one))
de Boer (the farmer)
In Friesland, the northern province of the Netherlands, names tend to end on -ma or -stra. For example:
Dijkstra
Boerma
Jansma
Reply:Its known as the netherlands, holland is only 1 part of the netherlands just like northumberland is only 1 part of england.
Anyways "van" is used allot in dutch names before the last name.I know allot of the second names have more of a scandanavian sound to them.E.g van rebergen , van grinsen e.t.c
Reply:Jansen, pieterse, de wit, etc,.
