What are some common British names from the 1700s-1800s?

Plz give me some last names and first names, girl and boy. If you're wondering why I'm asking this, it's because I'm writing a book set in that time period, so yeah...

Thanks!

What are some common British names from the 1700s-1800s?
In my family tree for the 1600s, 1700s, and 1800s, the same names crop up. First names include John, William, Abraham, Jacob, Sarah, Ann, Elizabeth, Mary..... Those are timeless English first names. You can also add George, James, and Henry to the list. Hal was a popular nickname for Henry.

Last names found in my tree include Anthony (also Anthonie), Wodell, Carpenter, Brewster, Penn, and even a Smith.

By the way, Abigail was such a common servant's name in that period that they often referred to a lady's personal maid as her abigail. Another popular servant's name was Margaret or Meg.
Reply:The usual names that represented the trade of the person's ancestors like Smith,Baker,Miller,Cooper, also Brown, Jones, Hunt,Crook. Warwick to mention just a few. Men's names Albert, Edward , Geoffrey, Harold, Arthur, Henry, Thomas,Alfred, Gordon,,Frederick,William,Stanley.

Women's names Florence, Elizabeth,Anne, Mabel,Gertrude,Nelly,Mary,Agnes,Lillian,... Catherine,Fanny, that should be a good start for you, good luck.Butcher is another surname
Reply:Dear Abigail (okay, so you aren't THAT Abigail)

Names in Britain in that time period included John, William, Reginald, Percival, Charles, Beverly, Shirley, Vivien and Marion -- yes, those were originally male names. John Wayne's real name was Marion, by the way. women's names included Alicia, Elizabeth, Victoria, Charlotte. Joan, Jane, and Vivian, and Ann.

Last names were just about the same as they are today - Smith, Jones, Robertson, Donaldson, Evans, Williams etc.

Good luck with the book!
